Chamonix tennis club is very well positioned about 15-20 minutes walk from us. The thirteen exterior courts have fantastic views of the Dru and Mont Blanc, and there’s also indoor tennis and squash courts.
Synthetic and clay surfaces are available, and you can call them on 04 50 53 28 40 to reserve a court. Currently it’s 16.40 euros per hour for two people, reserved”quart au quart” – for example, from 9.15 to 10.15. Or just drop in to have a look, on the way into Chamonix, and book one there and then.
There’s an equipment shop at the club, racquet rentals are available but you must have white soled shoes. You can check their opening hours at http://chamonixtennis.com.
In summer, there is a pleasant restaurant in the middle of the courts, well known for its very reasonably priced set lunch. Ideal for those who would rather just watch and enjoy the view, which really is spectacular. Personally I find the sound of tennis very soothing, and it’s a really nice spot.
It’s quite popular so may be worth reserving a table (04 50 55 86 04), especially at weekends.
